Reason and Revelation: Logic and Argumentation in the Classical Islamic Tradition
Join the York University Muslim Studentsโ Association for an evening with Shaykh Mahsuk Yamac of Zaytuna College, as we explore one of the most fascinating intersections in Islamic intellectual history โ the relationship between reason and revelation.
How did classical Muslim scholars approach logic? How did they engage with philosophical argumentation, debate, and dialectics? And what does this tradition have to say to students of science, engineering, and philosophy today?
This talk will unpack the rich legacy of rational inquiry within Islam, drawing from the classical tradition to show that rigorous thinking and deep faith have always gone hand in hand.
The session will be followed by an open Q&A, including an opportunity to ask Shaykh Yamac about Zaytuna Collegeโs MA in Islamic Texts โ a unique program for those interested in pursuing Islamic academia.
